Welcome to Saint Columbkille Catholic School
At St. Columbkille Catholic School, our mission is at the heart of all we do: to help every person take their next step to be more like Jesus. This commitment shapes our approach to teaching, learning, relationships, discipline, and service.
We believe each child is uniquely created by God and called to grow as a Disciple of Christ. Our school community provides a safe, inclusive, and faith-filled environment where students thrive spiritually, academically, and socially.
St. Columbkille Catholic School strives to develop the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—while fostering a love of learning rooted in faith. Our students are challenged to reach their full potential and to live as examples of Christ-like character within our community and beyond.
We live our core values each day:
- Faith and discipleship in action
- Commitment to excellence
- Integrity rooted in honesty, responsibility, and moral character
- Inclusion that celebrates the God-given dignity of every person
Together with our parish, families, and staff, we work to form young people who grow as disciples and leaders, ready to serve others and share the love of Christ in all they do.
We invite you to experience the faith, community, and excellence that make St. Columbkille Catholic School a place where students grow in faith and character each day.
History of St. Columbkille School
St. Columbkille Catholic School has been providing a quality Catholic education to children in grades K–8 in the Papillion area since 1916. Some of our earliest teachers were the Benedictine Sisters, whose dedication to faith and learning helped establish the strong foundation our school continues to build upon today.
During the 1978–79 school year, under the leadership of Fr. Steinhausen, two significant changes occurred. In the fall, the name was officially changed from Sacred Heart Academy to St. Columbkille Catholic School. This change reflected the intention to clearly identify the school as an integral ministry of the parish rather than a separate private institution. Around this time, it also became commonly referred to as the “parish school.”
Today, we remain a proud ministry of St. Columbkille Parish, guided by our mission: Helping everyone take their next step to be more like Jesus. As we look to the future, St. Columbkille continues to be committed to providing a strong Catholic education rooted in faith, service, and academic excellence. Through the continued support of our parish community, we will ensure that our school remains accessible, vibrant, and mission-driven for generations to come.
