Reading/Writing
We follow the Science of Reading in our reading and writing teachings. We use a few different programs to teach students throughout the day starting in Pre-K. We believe setting the foundations early allows for ample learning in the areas of phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Teachers use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners but will use Heggerty, Fundations, and our reading series titled Journeys, consistently as their primary teaching tool.
Math
We adopted a new math series in 2024-2025. Sadlier Math aligns with our state and archdiocesan standards and allows for a variety of teaching strategies to be used throughout the lesson (whole group, small group, hands on, etc.). Students in grades K-6 will use this series. Our 7th and 8th grade students will be in pre-algebra or algebra.
Social Studies
Students in grades PS-K plan weekly studies that incorporate science and social studies skills. Students will learn about environments, christmas around the world, bugs, american symbols, season, etc. Students in grades 1-5 use Houghton Mifflin curriculum and many supplemental materials. Students in grades 6-8 use My World and other supplemental materials, projects, and fun activities.
Science
Students in grades 1-5 use Elevate Science as our primary curriculum and students in grades 6-8 will use Stemscopes. Science is taught daily in all grades K-8 and the teachers will plan several fun projects and lessons throughout the year.
Religion
We adopted a new curriculum in 2024-2025 called Spirit of Truth for grades K-5. Our middle school students use a series titled Chosen by Ascension Press. Along with our curriculum series, students will go to Mass two times a week and have dedicated time for prayer and other devotionals.
